I had made The Hallow and that had caught the attention of James Wan through his company Atomic Monster and he sent me The Nun script, I am obviously a die-hard horror fan, and I knew all of James’ films and was particularly a fan of The Conjuring movies so I was quite intrigued as to what this story would be as I am always on the lookout. We have also gone on the road to Leicester and Nottingham. I know how time-consuming they are to do and the hard work involved. How did the idea of FrightFest first come about? It’s just been released onto Blu-ray and DVD so we had a quick chat with the very talented director of this gothic entry, Corin Hardy.

But all the organisational problems vanished on the night when stars like Cineema Schwimmer, Derren Brown and Shane Ritchie, not to mention most of the cast, turned up to help us celebrate our opening. We have already done this. FrightFest now has its own DVD label and is building up a most enviable reputation for giving some obscure genre movies top cinmea releases, what titles can we expect in the future?

I worried about cinma initially. My previous film Shiver was completed in and it took longer for me to get back into the directing saddle because of commitments I had to my sales company Jinga Films.

The pre-festival charity screening of Severance was an incredible experience, was it difficult to arrange? It has to be something good, something we believe in, and something with the unique FrightFest flavour. Death Maze,’ or something cool like that. I never get tired of it.

We have a brand people respect and we are not going to discredit it. It’s an honour to have our work premiered with one of our favourite channels.

We have already hired the same Odeon auditorium and now we have to get the big-ticket films to maximise attendance. Here Jules tells all about this brilliant piece.

As a fan of horror, I’m also a fan of the Horror Channel. That was the reason we got the preview in the first place. Because I cover a lot of horror movies in production for my various worldwide magazines, I often firm up involvement at the earliest stage too. I had a few conversations with them over the phone discussing the direction they mcgillkvray go, and once I saw that they were looking to get away from the seriousness of Leprechaun Origins I knew I wanted to do the project.

We chatted to Bill about this incredible movie. Guillermo is a close personal friend so all I had to do was ask him. It really was that simple. We always strive to make each FrightFest better than the last, and that takes an enormous amount of organisation and strategy. It didn’t feel appealing as after Howl, which was a big film in terms of cast, VFX, stunts etc and I was looking for a more challenging film logisticall We’re both big fans of classic horror and we love the works of Hitchcock, Carpenter, Friedkin, and Cronenberg so in a way we had a very mcgllivray style and feel in mind before we even had the story.

I chose the location first and wrote the story around it with my two co-writers, John Wolskel and Darren Lake. We spoke to its director, Steven Kostanski about this movie the challenges of carrying on a much loved franchise. I have spent so much quality time with him on location and at other festivals. It feels incredible to know that someone might discover Redwood in the exact same way. The prints you got were incredible, how did you manage that? Peripheral was bought to me by the original producer, he thought I’d be a good fit. I remember watching Child’s Play with the volume turned off, sitting directly in front of the TV so I could quickly turn it off if my parents came in.

We make a point of being available throughout the weekend to talk to everyone and listen to thoughts and cinemz I’m over the moon. We clearly needed more space to satisfy not only public demand but also our sponsor and distributor requests for complimentary tickets. Can you foresee more FrightFest events around the country or do you think this would water down the idea too much?
